Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
