The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
