The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
