The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 And by oath of the Promised Day. 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 while they sat around it, 6 and were themselves witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 Whose kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth. God is witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. 11 Surely the might of your Lord is great. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Honorable Owner of the Throne, 15 Doer (without let) of all that He intends. 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
