۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
