The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Quran. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
