The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
