The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
