The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
