Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning for people -- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
