The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
