The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
