The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
