The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
