The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
