(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
