۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
