The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
