The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
