The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
