The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
