He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
