The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
