He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
