Noah (Nooh)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Bee (Al-nahl) before Abraham (Ibrahim)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
