The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
