The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
