The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
