The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
