Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
