The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he thought; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
