The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
