The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
