The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
