The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
