The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
