And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
