The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
