The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
