The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
