He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
