The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
