The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
