The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
