He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
