The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The tribe of A'ad denied - so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
