The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
