The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the Visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
