Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
