The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
